Swimming Sea Animals Swimming Lessons
If there is any question our FAQ has not answered for you, please write us, use the live chat feature on our website, or contact us by phone at 713-609-9489.
What is the right age to begin swimming lessons?
Simply put – as early as possible. Swimming Sea Animals offers IPAP classes – a swimming lessons course for parents and their children. These classes focus on very basic water comfort skills, dunking, and breath holding. The ability for a child swim means they are safer in and near the water, and in a bad or difficult situation your kid may have no choice but to enter a body of water. Give them the confidence in the water they deserve to have all their life; beginning with Level 1, our swim lesson programming teaches the very basics for bouyancy and mobility. Training any child in the water is easier the earlier in age they start – we hope you enroll today.
Are there any safety precautions that I should be aware of?
Certain children may be sensitive to chlorinated water in their eyes and ears. Pool-safe sunblock should be used to prevent sunburn. Our class sizes are small, and all trainers are experienced in their field and certified by Guard Houston.
What should my child wear to swimming lessons?
We request all swimmers arrive prepared to enter the water in swimwear that is not woven from cotten. Slippers are a popular choice for wearing around the pool deck to avoid bare feet touching the hot concrete.
Are group and semi-private lessons organized by similar age and skill?
Yes – all students will be grouped with other students around the same age and swim capability.
What if my child is afraid of the water?
Our friendly lifeguards and staff deal with this all the time. Most students can be made comfortable in only a few days using a combination of positive reinforcement combined through environmental immersion around other swimmers they are comfortable with and through the use of games and narratives. Contact us today if you have any questions.
What is the weather cancellation policy?
Lessons will be rescheduled if heavy rain, lightning, or otherwise dangerous weather is present. In the event of a forecast for bad weather during the lesson time, a cancellation notice will be sent to the parent or guardian on file via email. If bad weather occurs during the lesson, the remainder of the lesson will be cancelled. Students that miss a lesson due to bad weather will be provided a full make-up lesson on the next available day with good weather.
Make-up lessons typically take place on the Friday of that week in your regularly scheduled time slot. We cannot guarantee the same instructor for make-up lessons. Missed lessons for any reason other than due to weather are not eligible for make-up lessons or refund.
Where are the swimming lesson venues located?
Swimming Sea Animals classes are held at a specific community pool facility for the duration of the lesson. Class locations can vary depending on the time of season – dates and locations are updated on the swimming lesson registration form as classes are added or filled up.
Do the classes fill up fast?
Registration is first-come-first-serve and is processed in the order in which received once enrollment starts. Due to the popularity of our Swimming Sea Animal program, we recommend signing up early for the benefit of choosing a class schedule right for you and your student.
Will the pool be open to the public during lessons?
Swimming lesson classes are available outside of pool hours in the morning and evening to provide the least distracting environment to our learning swimmers. We occasionally offer mid-day classes for busy parents and guardians that are held during normal pool hours. Lessons may also fall on maintanance days when the pool is normally closed to the public.
